If you have experienced sexual violence, including sexual assault, childhood sexual abuse or sexual harassment, at any time in your life, you are not alone. SAVIS is here to help. SAVIS services are free, confidential, non-judgmental, and based on the belief that survivors are the experts of their own experiences.
Programs include:
- 24-hour support line
- Face-to-face counselling in Acton, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton, and Oakville
- In addition to face-to-face counselling, SAVIS also offers telephone and online (Skype™) sessions to those unable to travel to the office locations
- Counselling and advocacy
- Diverse communities’ outreach
- Public education
- Court, police, and Nina’s Place accompaniment
Free Legal Advice for Victims of Sexual Assault

As of May 1, 2021, victims of sexual assault in Ontario can receive up to 4 hours of free, independent legal advice. This program is an ongoing effort by the Ministry of the Attorney General to strengthen victim services responses and can be accessed anytime after a sexual assault has occurred in Ontario.

If you have been sexually assaulted by anyone or have been hurt by your intimate partner, emergency departments provide care 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Nina’s Place provides care for residents of Acton, Burlington, Georgetown, Milton, and Oakville but the specialty unit is located at Joseph Brant Hospital. At JBH specially-trained nurses are on call 24 hours a day and can assist individuals with emergency medical and nursing care for all individuals of any age or gender. The services provided by the sexual assault nurse examiner include physical examinations, information and preventative treatment for pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections; information and risk assessment for HIV; forensic evidence collection, including body maps and photography; initial crisis counselling; safety planning; counselling services and community referrals.
Nina’s Place counselling services are provided by social workers specifically trained in the area of sexual assault, abuse, intimate partner violence and trauma. Counselling is available by appointment, please call 905-681-4880 to inquire about our counselling services or to book an appointment.
